In this unit the student will create, explore, and evaluate effective communication. Students will evaluate and execute each of the phases of writing process listed below:
Planning
Drafting
Revising
Editing
Publishing
Upon completing this unit, the student will be able to identify specific task associated with each phase of the writing process. In addition, the student will employ the writing process (using facts, opinions, and persuasive text) to compose the following essays:
Expository Essay,
Response to Literature Essay, and
Position Papers.

Technology Intergration
Presentation software, an overhead projector, and a laptop will be used to introduce the unit.
Students will use word processing software to employ the writing process.
Students will be instructed to dissect writing prompts by completing interactive exercises on the Mimio Pad.
Students will use bubbl.us to brainstorm for ideas on addressing writing prompts.
Students will use paperrater.com to aid in proofreading during the editing and publishing phases of the writing process.
